He holds a medical degree from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), residency training in Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA) of UFRGS, a Master's and PhD in Psychiatry from UFRGS, postdoctoral training at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King’s College London and at Duke University (USA), and a habilitation degree (livre-docência) in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry from the University of São Paulo (USP).

He is an Associate Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of São Paulo School of Medicine (FMUSP). He also serves as Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Psychiatry at FMUSP and Head of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Service at the Institute of Psychiatry (SEPIA-IPq-Hospital das Clínicas-FMUSP).

He has extensive clinical experience in neurodevelopmental disorders and conducts teaching and research activities in childhood and adolescent mental health, particularly in ADHD and ASD. At CISM, he serves as coordinator of the research module focused on the mental health of children and young adults.
